Airline Pilot's Information Website

Hello, my name is Jim and I am an active B747-400 Captain
flying around the world.

I created this web site to provide a source of information to passengers who are either worried about air travel or wish to know more about the aeroplane on which they are travelling. Hopefully this site might be of interest to "would be" airline pilots, there is a page print-out located on the "Contact me" page (see Questions menu) specifically aimed at the pilots of the future.

This web site is best viewed using either Netscape or Internet Explorer version 5 or later. The Flash player (a free download) is required for various pages.
It contains a lot of graphics to make it more interesting to read and understand.
So if some pages take a moment or so to load please be patient.

The information presented here has been deliberately "de-jargonised" for ease of reading and understanding. I have tried to make issues simple and easy to understand. Consider this page as an attempt to explain concepts. It is not meant to be scientifically exactly correct, there just isn't room here to do so.
To aspiring airline pilots may I suggest that you undertake to do an aviation medical before you get your heart set on a career. If you cannot pass an aviation medical you will never be employed as an airline pilot. It will be a problem that you are born with, I am sorry, but I suggest that you choose another career.
This is version three of my web page, I will update it regularly, particularly as my web page design skills improve. I will add more pages if I receive common questions about areas of aviation I have not covered here.
So please do use the "Contact" menu choice (Questions) if you have questions. I can really only make this truly useful with your assistance.
Thank you.
